It's never busy here anymore

@Evertb: Why did you expect today to be busier than normal?

@Adventsparky Unfortunately not. I am still convinced Jaiku is a far superior platform than Twitter..

@adewale Because Twitter is down all afternoon....
It is superior except for the lack of users.
http://status.twitter.com/ Denial of service attack is denying me my service.
That's the problem with centralised communication technologies. There's one single point of failure.
There are only 2 real solutions:
massive scale (which requires that you have a business model that can pay for the scale)
decentralisation
Why make Jaiku bigger than the number of people who sit around you table at the pub? Do you really want a church crowd here?

@topgold Don't want to make it bigger but was expecting a spill-over with Twitter being down..
I think Jaiku stopped being an alternative watering hole for Twitter a year or so ago. I hadn't noticed Twitter being down but if I had, I think I would have just listened to my iPod or Nokia podcatcher.
German twitterers are actually turning to IRC at times like this.

On that note, what's a good IRC client for my old N73? Bonus points for direct link to .sis :)
@topgold good idea, I have a new twit to listen to. Unfortunately I'm not the biggest calacanis fan.

@adewale Well said! Web is open and surely we need open, federated systems!

TWiT is starting to consume two hours of my life at a pop. I need three listening sessions to give all of that time.
