Apparently Shannon developments IT support person has been on holidays for the last two weeks.

EI had two key people from the Grants department on holiday when companies were scrambling to get New Venture Certs from them so they could be approved for BES. It measurably damaged us.
Typical. We moved into a new office in the Birr Technology (apparently) centre in the week before Xmas. Not only was there no power to the switch as well as non working phones but the one IT person for the whole Shannon region was AWOL (and that is using their own words).....
I dunno if employment law forbids it but in any small company I worked in previously, people simply were not allowed go on holidays around deadlines unless it was for something major (like getting married) and had been flagged months in advance.
I've been meaning to publish a timeline from Cowan announcing the new BES limits on Dec 5th 2006 to us getting our New Venture Cert on Dec 3rd 2007.
Of course the Dec 31st deadline for BES was not an internal EI deadline so I guess it didn't count.
After spending almost a year asking for the Cert and being fobbed off, when they finally did start processing them and I kept pushing for ours to be completed, I received the classic "you're not the only one you know".
@conoro Yes, but that's being applied from the top down. "ex"-SD people are not familiar with EI guidelines and keep referring to themselves as SD staff...
When I was dealing with EI in 2002, lots of people would introduce themselves and point out immediately that they were ex-Trade Board as if being in EI was a disease. I think EI absorbed the Irish Trade Board in 1942 ;-)
Just got an email for the Technology centre manager letting me know that they have managed to contact their IT guy and that he hopes to call out to Birr next Tuesday or Wednesday. Maybe I could use their WiFi network? Will I tell them that I have already "gained" access to that network?

But basically that means that we will have been without phone or Internet access for 17 days by then... Some technology centre.....
